Tom Booth-amos Returns to The Podium at Magny-cours

The World Supersport Championship returned to action this weekend after its summer break with Round 9 taking place at Magny-Cours in France, where the PTR Triumph team were left celebrating after Tom Booth-Amos returned to the podium in today’s Race 2 aboard the Triumph Street Triple 765.
Daniel Holgado took his maiden Moto2™ victory today at the Grand Prix of Catalonia in a decisive lights-to-flag victory from pole position. The Moto3 graduate had already climbed onto the podium at the Austrian Grand Prix, but this weekend went one better. Using his Triumph 765cc triple power to the absolute maximum around the fast and flowing 4.66km Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, Holgado took pole position by just 0.08seconds from Jake Dixon, but his race was a different story. Resisting pressure early on, he soon established a pace no one could match as they became embroiled in their own battles and scampered clear to win by a margin of 2.5seconds. Jake Dixon fought long and hard to secure second position at the flag, and Daniel Muñoz hauled himself from sixth on the grid to take the final step of the podium - his first Moto2 podium - just 0.6seconds adrift. Manuel Gonzalez was the most notable climber, ascending from 12th on the grid to finish fourth. Meanwhile, championship contender Aron Canet crashed out of the race and Diogo Moreira was unable to replicate his recent form and came home 14th. That means that at the front of the championship standings, Manuel Gonzalez has extended his lead to 217 points, ahead of Canet on 179, 38 points adrift, and Moreira on 175. Holgado has climbed to seventh overall. Holgado’s victory means that there have been two rookie winners in the last two races now, with David Alonso taking his maiden Triumph-powered Moto2 win in Hungary. There’s no rest for the Moto2 field as they head straight to San Marino, Italy, for round 16 on 12-14 September, before embarking on the overseas leg as the season starts to near its crescendo. --- Triumph Triple Trophy Shortlist: 1.
